Race 4 Chase

On Saturday, May 27th, 2006 the promising pro career and college aspirations of then 18 year old Chase Borders were tragically ended less than 24 hours after he graduated from high school in Tallassee, Alabama.

Chase was practicing at Monster Mountain MX for the Southeast Regional Loretta Lynn Qualifier and hoped for top 5 finishes in the 450 A and 450 Prosport at hte nationals classes when the motor in his Suzuki RMZ450 locked up over the fastest and longest jump on the track.

He was paralyzed instantly from the neck down when his C-5 vertabrae exploded.  His right femur was also badly broken.

Justs days later, after being airlifted to UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, Chase began a series of battles for his life as he developed ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) and spent the next 7 months in a coma - nearly dying several times.
